Foreign investors who wish to work in Cambodia or Cambodian companies wanting to hire foreign staff may engage with Acclime’s professional immigration team to assist you in the process of obtaining a work permit.
A work permit is an official document issued by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) that allows foreigners to work in Cambodia legally.
The first step is to obtain a work visa from the Department of Immigration. This e-visa can be applied for either at the Cambodian Embassy in the applicant’s country of residence, or on arrival in Cambodia (which is valid for 30 days).
As a result of Covid-19, visas on arrival are currently suspended, so you must obtain a visa before travelling to Cambodia.
Supporting documents from both employer and employee are required as follows:

Documents required from sponsoring employer:
Firstly, you will need to obtain a work visa which can be applied at the Cambodian Embassy in your hometown or on arrival in Cambodia with a validity of 30 days.
As a result of Covid-19, visas on arrival are currently suspended, so you must obtain a visa before travelling to Cambodia.
You will then be able to apply for a one-year work visa.
Once you have the work visa, you will need to obtain a work permit.
Work permit applications can be made online through the MLVT’s Foreign Workers Centralised Management System, along with submitting the required employer and employee information.
The process may take 15 to 20 days.
Individuals who need help with the application may engage with the services of Acclime.
The work permit is valid for one year. However, it will only be valid until 31 December of the year the permit was issued. It must be renewed within 1 January and 31 March.
Renewals after 1 April are subject to penalties.
