New guidelines on labour regulations in Cambodia.
The Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) has announced new guidelines regarding overtime work, work on paid holidays, and the suspension of weekly days off through Prakas No. 112/25, effective May 6, 2025. These regulations apply to all enterprises governed by the Cambodian Labour Law (CLL).
- Overtime work – Overtime work must be voluntary and is compensated at 150% of the regular wage for daytime work and 200% for nighttime work (22:00-05:00)
- Paid holidays – Work performed on paid holidays requires compensation equal to the employee’s regular daily wage.
- Suspension of weekly day off – In cases of urgent work (pursuant to Article 151 of the CLL), weekly time off can be suspended. Certain establishments may also reduce weekly days off by up to two days per month to compensate for workdays lost due to adverse weather. Work on a suspended weekly day off is compensated at twice the regular daily wage.
Employers are required to apply for overtime, work on paid holidays, and suspension of weekly days off at least three days in advance using the MLVT’s LACMS system.
Failure to comply with these regulations may lead to fines or legal penalties as per Chapter 16 of the CLL.
